Summary:
As Sanji and Roronoa Zoro score the winning goal, Usopp and Luffy cheer on their crewmates. Chopper cries with happiness, extremely impressed with their efforts. Even the Foxy Pirates are kidnapped, though Foxy is quick to admonish them for rooting for the enemy. As Foxy wonders how something like this could happen, the referee finally wakes up. Nami reminds him that he has to blow the whistle and he happily obliges as he remembers Sanji kicking Pickles at him. He is stunned when Itomimizu registers his whistle as the official end of the match, unaware that the Groggy Monsters have been defeated. Usopp repeatedly punches Zoro in his happiness, drawing his anger, while Sanji seeks the admiration of Nami and Robin. Itomimizu reminds everyone that since the Straw Hats won Round 2 of the Davy Back Fight, their captain can now choose someone from Foxy’s side to join his crew. Without thinking, Luffy says that he will choose “him”, causing several Foxy Pirates to wonder if he is serious. However, before Luffy is able to say “chopper”, Nami reminds Luffy that he has the option to choose the opponent’s captain. This would get the third victory and Chopper back without having to fight. This infuriates several Foxy Pirates to insult Nami, including Itomimizu himself. This draws Sanji’s ire as Itomimizu explains how dishonest that would be. Nami cries into Robin’s arms as she points out how many times the Foxy Pirates have broken the rules, but this is short lived as the Foxy Pirates continue their insults. Nami tells them that they are making her angry and urges them to stop immediately and apologize.
Itomimizu clarifies that it is Luffy’s choice, which again causes some of the Foxy Pirates to believe that he is choosing them. Robin tells Luffy that if he chooses Foxy, it would actually give them an easy win, but he doesn’t want someone like Foxy traveling with them. Luffy, Sanji, Zoro, and Usopp agree that they don’t want that kind of “trash” on their ship, which visibly breaks Foxy’s spirit. With that, Luffy calls Chopper back to them, who hugs Luffy tightly while sobbing uncontrollably. Luffy tells him to stop crying because there is no way Zoro and Sanji will lose. Foxy goes into further depression at Luffy’s decision, but his crew cheers him up by telling him to teach the Straw Hats a lesson in the third round of the fight. Foxy feels extremely loved by his crew for their kind words, but Sanji kills the mood by angrily telling him to start fighting already. Foxy responds with a threat to the Straw Hats, stating that they won’t get back the crew member they lost last round, so they should all be prepared to become Foxy Pirates soon. Luffy interferes to not lose to Foxy, who cryptically states as he leaves that there are many differences between a normal battle and an in-game battle.
Itomimizu announces the start of the third round of the Davy Back Fight, the Battle Round, which begins with a ring selection. To do so, both captains spin the cannon, with the combat point being where it naturally stops. However, when the cannon on the Foxy Pirates’ ship immediately stops, Usopp is upset that the cannon’s movement was not “natural” at all. A cannonball is launched at the ship, with the battle arena designated as a fifty meter radius around the landing site. The arena thus includes the entire ship as well as part of the surrounding water. All weapons on the ship are valid for use in combat, but no one other than the contestant may enter the arena. To win, you simply have to knock your opponent out of the arena. After explaining the rules, Itomimizu announces a cheerleading show led by Porch on the battle stage as well as selling some souvenirs, much to Nami’s annoyance. As Chopper tends to Zoro and Sanji’s injuries, he thanks the two for getting him back. Zoro brags that he did it himself, which immediately enrages Sanji, but Nami stops them before they can get into a serious fight. She notices someone calling for their captain and gets incredibly angry with Luffy when she sees him and Usopp buying souvenir badges. It is decided that Usopp will be the “coach” for the fight. Sanji gets into an argument with one of the Foxy Pirates over the taste of the popcorn, but quickly turns his attention to the fireworks that mark the start of the third round. Sanji finds places for Nami and Robin, and Chopper notices that the sky is full of dark smoke. In the smoke are two enlarged versions of Luffy and Foxy’s reward posters as Itomimizu states that the final round will be a duel between the two. Itomimizu announces Foxy’s entrance to the ring saying he has a 920 win streak. As announced, Luffy has a brief memory of Usopp training him for his performance in battle. After removing his cape, Luffy is revealed to be wearing an afro and has a flaming skull and crossbones tattooed across his stomach. Usopp has a straw hat under his glasses. Chopper and Sanji cheer for Luffy, but Zoro doesn’t recognize his captain with an afro.
