Summary:
The Straw Hat Pirates reach the second island on the Grand Line, Little Garden – home to prehistoric animals.
Vivi comes to appreciate life aboard the Going Merry and the carefree lifestyle of her new friends. He has reservations as he constantly warns them not to underestimate the dangers that await them on the Grand Line.
After a peaceful journey, they finally arrive at Little Garden Island, which Miss All Sunday had been warning them about. It appears to be made of a strange tropical forest and is inhabited by even stranger animals. Nami is not eager to leave the ship as their position in the log is being reset, but the rest of the crew has the opposite opinion. Longing for adventure, Luffy decides to go exploring. Much to Nami’s surprise, Vivi decides to accompany Luffy to distract herself from her worries. He drags the not-so-willing Karoo along.
After they leave, Sanji asks Zoro to go hunting to get more food as they are running low. Zoro, not too happy to be working under Sanji’s orders, responds with a nasty comment that he would get something bigger than Sanji anyway. Refusing to lose face in front of Nami, Sanji challenges Zoro to a hunting contest – to see who can bring the crew the most weight of food.
Luffy and Vivi discover strange animals and realize that Little Garden is actually a prehistoric island that remained evolutionarily wise during the time of the dinosaurs.
Meanwhile, back on the ship, Nami and Usopp are alone and unsure aboard the Going Merry. Nami finds a book that explains the name of the island. Suddenly, a giant shadow approaches them.
