Summary:
Sanji decides to sacrifice himself to save Zeff. In doing so, Sanji remembers the 9 years he first met Zeff.
Gin takes Zeff hostage and asks Sanji to leave the ship. Sanji refuses and tells him to go to hell. What may seem like a very egotistical reaction on Sanji’s part turns out to be a gesture of sacrifice. Sanji actually asks Gin to point the gun at him instead of the owner, and when the newly conscious Pearl attacks him, he no longer avoids or resists him. Luffy is about to punch Pearl, but Sanji yells at him to stop. If they do anything else to hurt Krieg’s pirates, Gin is highly likely to follow through on his threat. Sanji knows this and is responsible for Zeff and Baratie. The reasons for his strange shift in behavior are hidden in the past of the two chefs: Sanji blames himself for destroying Zeff’s former life, his dreams, and his power. He doesn’t want him to lose anything and would rather die than give Baratie to Don Krieg.
Pearl uses this opportunity to defeat Sanji as he does not lift a finger to threaten Zeff. The chefs around them were dying to know what could have happened to them so long ago as they had the impression that Sanji hated the head chef. While Sanji is down after several attacks from Pearl, two words come to mind before the scene goes back in time: All Blue. Nine years ago, young Sanji was an apprentice chef on the cruise ship Orbit. One day he told his senior cooking companions about his dream to find the All Blue, the legendary sea where all kinds of fish and seafood from all the world’s oceans can be found. After mocking him for believing such a sea existed, they proceeded to eat a lot of scraps left by the clients. Sanji finds this disgusting and scolds them for eating leftovers when there is still fresh food and only two days until the next port. More experienced chefs answer that you never know what can happen at sea. A chef sailing the sea must use all available resources. He doesn’t see the lure and rejects their leftovers again.
Suddenly people on board started running and screaming for help. The ship is attacked by Zeff and his crew of Cook Pirates.
