Summary:
The Marines are surprised that the Going Merry got past their warships without seeing them. They all land in the water. Kokoro throws Luffy, Robin and Chopper overboard. Zoro tells Nami to give them orders. Luffy tries to thank Robin for saving him from the attack, but she puts her hand up to cover his mouth and just smiles. He then gets up and thanks everyone for saving him. Zoro tells her to thank them once they get out of there and gets Sanji to kick him but is blocked. Nami breaks up the fight by telling Sanji to steer the ship. Spandam gives the order to take out Robin with the Straw Hats, he lies to the Marines that the order came from Admiral Aokiji. The Marines attempt to fire on the Going Merry, but somehow accidentally hit another of their own ships. Then they realize that the Gates of Justice are closing without them noticing.
The whirlpools created by closing the gates suppress the marines' control, causing them to miss their target. Usopp is about to ask Sanji if he was behind the closing gate, but Sanji simply tells him that he wasn't the kind of enemy they could easily defeat in a fight. He also has to outsmart them. Zoro then points out that hot tubs are dangerous for them as well. Nami assures them that Merry can run over anything if they are on it. A ship directly behind them fires at the Going Merry. Zoro and Sanji grab Luffy's arms and legs and trap the cannonballs in his stomach, using his rubber body to shoot the cannonballs back from where they came from, landing a direct hit on the ship behind them. Nami then orders Chopper to make a sharp port turn at 9 o'clock. They catch the outer edge of the vortex and gain speed from it.
Spandam berates the Marines for having an entire fleet at their disposal but not being able to take out a single person. Robin sees Spandam and uses the Clutch on him to break his spine. Franky then uses Coup de Vent and launches the ship out of range of the naval ships. Usopp creates a smoke screen and the Straw Hats run away. The Franky family, the Galley-La leaders, and the giants all made it by getting at Puffing Tom. Aokiji watches the entire battle from afar on his bicycle. The marines want to go after the pirates, but one of them says that looking at their ships and the island, it's clear it's theirs, and Aokiji finishes the thought by declaring total defeat. On the Going Merry, Franky asks the Straw Hats how they could do something so heinous as burning the flag of the World Government. Luffy said all they did was take back their friend that was taken from them. He then declares his victory and celebrates.
