Summary:
The Great War ended two weeks ago, and pirates from all four Blues are heading to the Grand Line in search of treasure. Whitebeard's death had the same reaction as Gol D. Roger. Naval bases are attacked and backup is requested.
During these two weeks, the escape crew of Luffy, Jinbe, and the Heart Pirates finally reached their destination: Amazon Lily. Emporio Ivankov was also there for a short time, but decided to take his New Kamas survivors to the Kingdom of Kamabakka. Jinbe responds to Ivankov's departure by telling him that he will take care of Luffy for now. Law, Jinbe and Hancock betray Ivankov. The new Kama says goodbye and shouts that Luffy should hold on. And so the stolen battleship departed.
Jinbe and Law talk about Luffy's health and Law tells Jinbe that if Luffy's wounds open he will die. The Heart Pirates try to calm Luffy down. In the middle of the Amazon Lily Jungle, Luffy screams and shouts Ace's name.
At Amazon Lily's castle, Hancock is informed of Luffy's awakening. Everyone seems to rejoice, especially Hancock seeing that the object of her affection is finally conscious. She wishes to see him immediately, only for Elder Nyon to remind Hancock of her alliance with the Shichibukai. He tells her that she will set a bad example for her people. Boa Sandersonia and Boa Marigold tell her sister that she should eat. He then tells his people to start preparing the best cuisine for Luffy. She must have misunderstood her sisters' advice. Elder Nyon wonders about Luffy how he could survive everything.
On the coast; Rock Wall Beach, Heart Pirates gathered. The pirates talk about a pleasant smell wafting from the island. They note that once a person enters, they are forever turned to stone. Then two of them start talking about peeking into the ground. In a comedic sense, Bepo asks if there would be bears, only to be scolded. Not too far away is Trafalgar Law, perched on a rock. He looks curiously at the Straw Hat in his hand. Luffy screams, blood dripping from his mouth. He screams again. Blood drips down his hand and he clenches his fist. He breathes heavily and asks himself where he is. He looks up at the sky as he talks about the dream. Flashback to Ace dying on the battlefield, right in front of Luffy. Luffy screams and remembers Ace. Another short flashback, Ace tells Luffy that he's sorry he didn't let Luffy save him. Luffy looks at his hand, reminding him that he was looking at his hand back on the battlefield as he lifted Ace onto his blood-laden back. Screaming for something to go away. He rages and smashes the rock into pieces, remembering how Akainu was punched by Ace. He sees Ace yelling Luffy's name. Luffy screams again and has a brief shot of Akainu killing his brother. Luffy crushes the nearest tree. Breaks through trees, tilts rocks. Jinbe sees her going crazy. Luffy falls to the ground and finally sees Jinbe standing in front of him. Luffy looks angry, Jinbe remembers Ace asking him to take care of Luffy. Jinbe tries to tell Luffy that the war is over and its outcome. Luffy angrily tells him not to say anything. Luffy tearfully says that he would wake up if it was a dream. Luffy has a flashback to the war, right after saving him. The two bonded. Ace... He died, didn't he?, Luffy asks Jinbe with tears on his face. It's hard to say otherwise, but he keeps saying it. Luffy screams and cries, has brief shots of his youth. Luffy screams once more leaving Jinbe in tears.
Flashback, ten years ago, Garp has Luffy's face in his fist and tells him that he will not become the Pirate King. He says that Luffy and Ace will become the strongest marines ever. Luffy is hurt, which is why Garp says he shouldn't have left him in that village. Garp knocks on the door and tells Dadan to come out. An elderly woman and two men come to the door. Dadan is the woman who tells Garp he can't handle another. Garp tells them that she should marry him or he will go behind bars. Garp blackmails the woman and Luffy gets spit on. They look away and see Ace. Luffy gets mad but Garp slaps him. Luffy and Ace look at each other, full of aggression.
