Summary:
As Luffy begins to activate Gear 4, Katakuri traps him in a pile of mochi on the floor. He wonders aloud why he would just sit and watch Luffy get turned on, claiming that he won’t underestimate him like many of his siblings. He then turns the walls of the mirror world into mochi and buries Luffy with it in an attempt to suffocate him. Katakuri apologizes that their fight had to end this way, but praises Luffy for lasting longer than he expected. After Katakuri notices that his snack is late due to their argument, he calls his cooks and they bring him sweets. The cooks inform him that the daily Katakuri black tea has gone cold due to the delay. He dusts it off and after building a mochi shrine, tells the cooks not to disturb him and not let anyone in.
As the chefs discuss Katakuri’s power, Luffy digs himself out of a pile of mochi, much to their shock. Exasperated, Luffy says he wanted a real fight, but all the enemies he’s fought one-on-one so far have used food, asking if he has to keep eating to win. He then sees through the chef’s lies about Katakuri leaving the Mirror World when he sees the shrine and senses someone with great power inside, causing the chef to realize that he too can use Kenbunshoku Haki. He tries to convince Luffy to go in, but he doesn’t listen and breaks it up with a well-placed elephant gun. Inside, Katakuri indulges himself by eating donuts and drinking tea while lying on his back while the chefs are surprised by this display until they realize he is being watched.
Katakuri becomes enraged that he was seen eating with his face uncovered and brutally kills all the cooks when they accidentally mention his mouth. He then turns his attention to Luffy, remarking on his mistake in not ensuring Luffy’s death as he lost all patience with Luffy and blamed him. Enraged, he says that no one who has seen his face can remain alive. The two soon clash using Busoshoku Haki, and Katakuri notices his superiority. His claim is proven true when Luffy’s hands swell up after a clash with Sweet Commander.
Katakuri prepares another strike, but Luffy dodges and kicks him in the jaw, expressing surprise that it actually connected. Katakuri angrily rejects this, stating that his abilities are still superior to Luffy’s. Realizing that Katakuri is not truly invincible as he previously thought, Luffy is able to finally activate Gear 4 and hits Katakuri with the Kong Gun.
